What is this so-called ‘Tort Reform’ everyone keeps talking about?
You’ve probably heard a lot of talk lately about how our legal system is plagued with frivolous lawsuits, driven by greedy lawyers. While these assertions might make for appealing political rhetoric, they are largely unsupported by the facts. This section will be devoted to providing accurate, factual information to our clients and the public alike, to rebut the wild hyperbole that our tort system is ‘out of control’ and ‘needs to be fixed.’
See an article from St. Louis Today newspaper, which explains the real impact of medical malpractice cases on the tort system.

After deliberating for eleven hours over two days, a Marquette County jury rendered a NOT GUILTY verdict in a second degree attempted homicide case. In a three-day trial, Attorney Johnson convinced the jury that his client justifiably shot his daughter's abusive ex-boyfriend as he beat her in a fit of rage outside the defendant's home in 2009.
In an OWI case, Attorney Johnson persuaded the trial judge to supress evidence obtained by the State during an illegal traffic stop. The judge agreed that law enforcement had no legal basis to stop and arrest his client, who was lost on rural roads in Green Lake County. Without this evidence, the State will be forced to dismiss all charges against the client, which will alow him to maintain his commercial driver's license.
Attorney Johnson recently convinced a district attorney to amend an operating while intoxicated (second offense) charge to a civil reckless driving charge in exchange for the client’s plea to the lesser, non-criminal charge. As a result, a highly valued member of our nation’s armed forces will be able to maintain top level security clearance and continue to defend our country at home and overseas.
